Today, we will consider chairs and sofas.
The sofa is
the single most important furniture in the living room therefore you need to
make a statement with it.
I sometimes think that's why it is called the sitting room!
Before acquiring your sofa, it is advisable to consider the size of your sitting room, the way you live (your lifestyle) and the style you intend to create in your space... For example, you
need to consider your family size and what suits everyone likely to be using the furniture once installed in terms of height, depth, design fabric and even colour of the sofa.
If you have very young
children, tough fabrics may be better than leather fabrics for your sofas,
while wooden centre tables may be preferable to glass ones.
Comfort is also very important; your sofas should not
only be trendy and glamorous, they must provide seating comfort!!! Your sofas must serve
the dual purpose of aesthetics & functionality.
In addition, as much as you want them to be trendy,
they shouldnt trend so much that people cant sit on them (ever seen people perching on chair edge?) niether should they become outdated pretty soon since you are
probably investing much into acquiring them.
You can choose timeless furniture that would
still be relevant many years to come.
Decorations like throw pillows can easily be changed or updated while the sofa itself still sits pretty with a new scheme even.
Please note that every other piece of furniture
should be complimentary to the sofa in the living room. The job of every other piece and accessory in the living/sitting room is to make the sofa look good and not compete with it or outshine it. It is eqyally important to acquire the best sofa
that you can afford with firm cushions and lots of throw pillows to tease the
eye and add lushness to the room.
